M...m...Mondays

for the record I HATE mondays. with a passion.

especially the ones where they are holidays and everyone stays home. our schedule gets thrown off and the girl WILL NOT sleep. than there is that annoying creature who throws melodramatic hissy fits because 'life isn't fair' *rolls eyes* well DUH! it isn't fair now suck it up and get over it. I swear to goodness I wish that i could just lock her up in a small cage and let her suffer. I am tired of her waking kenzie and not being held responsible for it.

*pauses* hold on a second i'm going to go on a rant about what i am tired of:

I am tired of:
  • annoying teenage sisters
  • people who scream at the top of their lungs and wake kenzie
  • getting in trouble for yelling at them when they wake kenzie cause i JUST GOT HER TO SLEEP
  • living with my parents(sadly its the only thing i can afford)
  • not having my car so i can go out when i want to
  • not having a job so i get more human contact
  • my mother who is a complete and utter witch
  • my sister whom is a spoiled little brat- seriously
  • people telling me that my hair makes me look like a 'goth' uh no it doesnt
Okay i think thats it for the moment. okay am off now

Shelter sundays is off today

for those wondering- there wont be a shelter sundays today as i didn't work @ the shelter today.

instead i'll share my rather odd dream from the other night.

So as many of you know i am in absolute love over David Hewlett he is an amazing awesome funny, actor who I just can't get enough of. I swear I have NO IDEA where this dream came from as I can't explain it away as muscle relaxers since I hadn't taken any.

So anyways the other night I dreamt that I was sitting and watching the news in our living room on tv and that all the anchors were favorite characters from different TV shows I watch. Finally the weather came on(as I ALWAYS watch the weather) and there was David doing the weather(it wasn't rodney it was DAVID) so they go through the forecast for the week and the radar and whatnot, and then they get to the weather map(you know the one that lists the towns on it?) and all the names of the towns behind david are of different characters he has played- there was Rodney, Mckay, Grant, Jansky, Mel, Patrick, etc.

I woke up shortly thereafter wondering if my brain has been spending too much time thinking about david lately. Maybe my fan-girlishness is becoming an obsession?

Though I must say lately I have been having the STRANGEST dreams and not all of them can be attributed to my muscle relaxers as I try to avoid taking them unless I have to. Heck I didn't even have dreams this wierd when I was preggo with kenzie, and NO I am NOT preggo again so don't even say it!

Country Living Expo

Today was the Country Living Expo(CLE) it seemed to go off without a hitch. Well there were a few things that didn't happen the way they should but I just rolled with them here is how my day went:

****************************************

4:30 am- Wake up and go take care of mackenzie, for some reason Kenzie decided that TODAY was the day that she HAD to get up early. So I missed out on a half hour of sleep.

5:30 am- Kenzie went back to bed and I flopped on the couch for a bit since I didn't have to be in town until 6:30

6 am- got up pulled on my goat shirt shoved "ronald"(my laptop) into the bag and grabbed gloves and hat got ready to go

6:15 am- left for town

6:30 am- arrived at the school to find 4 scary looking tour buses parked out front- turned out it was ski bus. oh and there were about 5 livestock advisors there. we started setting up and were done with that by about 7:45

8am- doors opened and people started arriving, I was in-charge of speaker check in meaning i gave the speakers their blue folder(stuffed with goodies), and showed them on the map where we were NOW and where they had to be(classroom) before handing them off to an FFA kid to walk them out to their room.

9:30am- Vicky arrived I checked her in and than we drove over to her classroom and got set up for her cheese class. Sometime between here and 10:30ish she gave me the BESTEST christmas present EVER- a gift certificate for pick of the litter from her goats. Have I mentioned how awesome she is?

10:40-12:10 pm- Vicky's cheese class- it was quite popular and there were about 40-50 people in there.

approx. 1pm- We went and ate our prime rib it was okay but I wasn't super hungry.

~1:30 pm- I went and dropped my laptop off in the check in area and wandered the vendors checking them out.

~2:15 pm- did one last run through of my presentation only found 1 small problem which i fixed.

2:50 pm- was at my classroom got quickly set up and started my class. this is when i started having a couple of issues.
  1. Ronald decided that this would be a good day to have my virus software go off in the MIDDLE of my presentation- mind you I had a GIANT projector screen- i just blew it off with a 'well like i said before my laptops been having issues lately'
  2. Ronald also decided that THIS was the time to 'forget' some of my presentation, I got about halfway through my presentation and suddenly stuff was 'missing' from my slides. that was great fun, thankfully I switched to 'edit' view and it showed up.
4:20 pm- my class was over so we headed back to the registration area and found that the water that i'd gotten donated had barely been used. So I grabbed my 2(paid for) cases, and caught a ride home from vicky.

Buts, Butts and juice

So today was a pretty blah day except for the fact that mackenzie learned a new word- BUT, at the moment she doesn't know what it means thankfully but she wanders around pointing at things and going 'but' (which comes out sounding like fut) its cute but will get old quick i can tell i think this brings her up to a grand total of 13 words. We are supposed to be getting scheduled for a speech therapy consult though I think she is pretty normal, she babbles a lot she just doesn't like to speak. Though I guess its better to be safe than sorry.

(really long back story here)

Now as many of you know back when kenzie was 3 months old she got her first UTI which was diagnosed by the wonderful folks at the hospital's ER. We were later refered down to children's by our FP's partner(she was on maternity leave) to get a VCUG(flouriscopic voiding cytourerthrogram) and a Renal Ultrasound to diagnose, any problems. It was at that time she was diagnosed with Vesicoureteral Refluxation of the III grade. The PA that we saw I didn't like(i didn't know at the time she was a PA) she had the WORST bedside manner EVER. Basically she told us that 'there is nothing we can do other than leave her on antibiotics'. So we came home with a prescription for some bactrin and orders to follow up with our FP.

Well we followed up with her at our regular WCC in december(she'd been diagnosed in september) at 9 months old. We were at that time given orders to re-see the PA in June/July to follow up a year after diagnosis. A few weeks later, Kenzie became inconsolable, fussy and was just not herself. So I called the FP's office to try and get an appointment as I suspected a new UTI. Well unfortunatly our FP was unable to see her BUT the brand new pediatrician just happened to have openings. We got an appointment less than an hour after I called(i seriously LOVE our pedi she's amazing) went in and took a urine sample by cath(which if you have never had to hold your child down while they catherize them count your lucky stars) and confirmed that she had a UTI. The Ped sent us home with a scrip for Amoxicillian, and orders to come back in a couple days for a reculture. Well we went home did the scrip routine, and came back. We ran another culture to find that her levels hadn't dropped at all in fact the little buggy boys had MULITPLIED. So we opted for some stronger antibiotic, and a order to check back monday. Well come monday still no change other than that the levels had stayed static and not gone up. So at that point she sends us home with some Omnicef, and let me tell you with in HOURS of her first dose kenzie was a whole new baby.

All the while while this was going on we(the ped and i) had been talking about when we were supposed to follow up with children's for a repeat VCUG and Renal U/s. Since I had so severely disliked the last urologist we'd seen down there(the PA) I hopped onto their website and started researching doc's. Well that was when I came across the little fact that the urologist we'd seen was a PA not an MD. So needless to say I was NOT a happy camper. I was lucky enough to find a WONDERFUL Doctor down there who SPECIALIZES in VUR. So on our next follow up to the pedi, when she and I decided it would probably be best to follow up sooner w/ the doc, I told her that I wanted to see Dr. Joyner. She said she'd get it set up and have them call us. A couple days later we got a call from children's to arrange the appointment with him. Apparently he is a very busy man because the first available appointment was in APRIL. But hey, this guy is the best right? OF course we'll wait for the best.

Between january and april she kept having reccurring bladder infections and was on constant antibiotics that caused her to have a HORRIBLE diaper rash. Imagine what your feet look like after they have been in wet socks all day. Than add in some blood, and giant cracks, and general pain. She had to have a 6 step diapering regime for it. first we had to change her as soon as we knew she was wet, secondly we had to wipe her with a wet WASHCLOTH(no wipies), (3)than we had to dry her with a dry washcloth, (4) apply a LIGHT coat of baby powder, than the bactrin ointment(for the open sores), (5) coat the rest in calmoseptine(used for bedsores) and finally (6) we could apply a new diaper. Her diaper rash got so bad that we actually had her on Zyrtec for a while because it helped with the puffiness, redness, and swelling of her poor butt. Every diaper change was pure hell.

Our visit to childrens was April 10th. I must say that I LOVED Dr. J from the moment we met him. It was night and day from our last Urologist. He smiled, had a wonderful bedside manner, appreciated the fact that I had done my research, and actually joked around with me between his explanations(i have a really good sense of humor that comes in handy down there sometimes). He looked at her films and reconfirmed what we already knew that she had a stage III VUR and had been having breakthrough infections on the meds. He and I discussed the options and we both agreed that doing a Deflux injection endoscopicly would be the best way to handle the treatment. Now at that point I expected that we would have at least a week to wait before the procedure. It just happened that he had an opening a few days later on the 13th and could squeeze her into the schedule. So we went in on Friday the 13th and had the endoscopic procedure done it didn't take that long and she got both her right and left sides done(she'd orignally just shown symptoms on the right in the VCUG but the other side looked just as bad). She was put on Nitrofurantoin and we were instructed to follow up in 6 weeks with another VCUG. We did that and came back and she was ALL better(mommy sigh of relief) so we started 'weaning' her off her meds and had her completely off by mid-july. Since than we have had ZERO breakthrough infections. We had a couple suspected breakthroughs but they turned out to be false alarms.

(END LONG BACK STORY)

So that brings us to tonight. I fed kenzie dinner and took her out of her high chair and went to carry her upstairs to bed. Just as soon as I touched her she started CLENCHING(tightening her abs and body) which isn't a good thing(if you've ever tried to carry a board stiff toddler you know what i mean). So I carry her upstairs her wailing incosolably the whole time that I am touching her. We get upstairs and I take her jammy off(i'm a bad mother i know) to change her diaper for bed, and pull the diaper off to reveal a HORRID diaper rash. Now over the course of the last few months I have come to realize that juice makes her have really acidic urine/poop so I try to avoid it at all costs. I gave her a SMALL amount yesterday(1/2 ounce in 9 ounces of water) so I am wondering if she is THAT sensitive or if it might possibly be another UTI as she is also exhibiting her 'symptoms'(she doesn't do textbook UTI symptoms) of clenching, being generally inconsolable, running a fever(100.9), and just not being herself. At this point I am not tooo worried because our 'magic number' is 101.5 which at that point we MUST go into either the dr's office, emergent care, or the ER depending on the hour. Sooo wish us luck that it isn't a UTI.

Oh, My, GOSH!

So I was going to start doing wordless wednesdays' today but i am just too excited to do that. So instead I will tell you the ROCK MY SOCKS OFF news i got at my WSU CLE/CWS meeting tonight. We originally(a little over 10 weeks ago) decided our 'high end' goal for attendance would be 300 people. Well last week we had exactly 89 registered on wednesday. Today we have 449 people who are already PRE-REGISTERED! Holy cow! I mean that is not including the 51 instructors that brings our total to 500 people, or an increease of 380 people in a WEEK, 7 days! WOW! So if you aren't signed up already get your butt on the ball and get your spot now its going to be a jampacked day!

Sleep and other such things

(written yesterday)

So today I got bored and sat and counted how much little sleep i have really been getting the last week and a half. I figured it out to a total of 20 hours in 11 days I'm sure that SOUNDS like a lot but when you break it down it really isn't. It works out to around 2 hours per night. No wonder I've been so tired. I know that it doesn't help that I am having panic attacks when I lay down and that my neck, and back are constantly sore.

I feel bad for my friends who have been helping me through my panic attacks(i mean who really wants to be woken up at 1:30 in the morning by a hysterical person?). I know that I am lucky to have them though because otherwise I wouldn't even be garnering that 2 hour average of sleep.

I also went to the doctor today and was diagnosed as having a neck sprain and it was while there that I realized how limited my movement has been since the accident. I used to be quite flexible, but I could barely turn my head or bend it anyway other than forward. The doctor ordered that I have some physical therapy pain & torture 1-2 x's a week for 2-8 weeks. She also wants me to take ibuprofen since i have been avoiding taking anything(i'm kind of anti-drug unless it is truely nessacary). So hopefully that will help me out some.

I was going to write a really insightful post....

Instead you'll just have to make due with a story about what happened while I was on the phone today.

Today I was on the phone enjoying a nice adult conversation when I realized that the house was completely silent. Normally that isn't a big deal because it means that kenzie is down for a nap, BUT today i KNEW that I had yet to put her down because her pre-nap drink was still sitting on top of the TV. So I go off looking for her and cant find her in any of her usual hiding places, like the toy bin, behind the chair or her FAVORITE:

The Closet

Photobucket

I close the closet door only to realize that the bathroom door is open, I don't recall opening it but hey I have mommy brain I can barely remember where I left my keys. So I push the door open and find kenzie standing at the toilet with a cup half full to her lips chugging down toilet water. My first reaction was to laugh but than I realized that I didn't know wether it was CLEAN or not, so I rush over there to find that it was clean, pry the cup out of her hands, and pick her up and carry her out of the bathroom while trying to avoid sloppy baby kisses.

Though I did find a new way to make yourself look skinny:

Though I'm not sure if the rockin' green tile adds weight or not.....

Sunday Shelter Stories

As many of you know on Sunday afternoon's I spend 4 hours volunteering in the local Animal Shelter's Vet Clinic. I have been volunteering with the shelter for 4 years since they opened in May of 2003. I started out as a 'Cat Kennel Technician', 'Dog Walker', and than moved up to a "Socializer" and am now a "Veterinary Nurse Assistant". This has given me a very interesting insight into the world of animal rescue and how shelters work. Therefore I think each Sunday that I will be doing a series called Shelter Stories. In it I will be sharing antidotes from the past and possibly even the story of one of our animals who is currently there.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Todays story will actually be a tale from today about a dog that came into the shelter. Now normally we don't take dogs directly from the public as we are a 'rescue organization' who saves animals in over crowded shelters from being put to sleep. Well today this nice couple stopped by, with a dog that they had found. Apparently they were driving home from the San Jaun Islands and were getting ready to get on the freeway to head home when they saw this scared looking dog running towards the freeway on-ramp. They quickly pulled over when they noticed that she seemed to be limping and picked her up. They dropped by(as this was nearing closing time) with the dog scared that she'd been hit by a car(because of the limp) or that she had possibly fallen off the back of someone's truck. Since they live a good distance away from where they found her(several hours) they didn't want to take her farther from home than nessacery so they wondered if there was anything we could do for her. The wonderful staff decided that YES we could take her in for the night at least and than if nothing else send her up to the 'regional' shelter in the morning(where her owners are more likely to look for her) so that she can hopefully be found.
Things I found in My Purse
So today I cleaned out my purse:
Photobucket
I found LOTS of interesting items inside:
Photobucket
In one of the outside pockets I found a single "Wet Ones" wipe, and a Pampers diaper wipe
Photobucket
In the other outside pocket I found a packet of Tamiflu Tissues UNOPENED!
Photobucket
In the front pocket I found exactly TWO pens
Inside was really really messy.
Photobucket
from the top left:
2 Energy Pills, a emery board, 2 'Pump Tech' energy/diet pills, 2 packages of Lansinoh ointment, a tube of Arm & Hammer Toothpaste, 2 packages of Lansinoh disposable breast pads, 7 packages Pampers baby wipes(lavender singles), Bannana Boat Kids Sunblock SPF 30, Bannana Boat Baby Sunblock SPF 50, Spray bottle of Eucerin Anti Itch, Tube of Eucerin Lotion, Bannana Boat Dark Tanning Lotion SPF 4, and Eye Gel(you know for those times my eyes feel puffy ;) )
Photobucket
4 Single packs of Tissue Brand Tissues, a Tube of Mascara, another Tube of lotion(though i think its Aquaphor), a pair of nail clippers, and a trial size package of Dermaphase 365(for those times i want to freeze away fine lines in less than 10 minutes in one easy step)
Photobucket
I also have a veritable Drugstore in one pocket it contains:
1 BodiHeat heat pack, 1 Trial size of lubriderm lotion, Tylenol, Pecid Complete, a Packet of Benefiber, Bayer, Aleve, a Packet of Rolaids, a SalonPas heat patch, Alka Seltzer, Orajel Toothache Powder, 2 hair ties, and some Alavert.
So If you are ever in washington and you run into me and you happen to have some ache, pain, or other complaint I probably carry a cure for it in my purse. Unless of course you happen to need to see my ID because I happen to notice that I don't carry my WALLET in my purse. Or my Cell phone... Hmmm maybe I should make some room for them alongside the folding brush I got today and the mini mirror.....
I almost forgot I can't even figure out why some of this stuff is in there, as it has been MONTHS since I used it. I mean we haven't been breastfeeding since april the 4th when she turned 13 months old and I left on my trip to WSU....
Insert witty title here
So today has been an all around F'ed up day. It started with me 'oversleeping'(read sleeping for the first notable stretch all week), and running behind. That was followed by a long day with Gma, and a trip to the mall. All of which involved my current least favorite activity- riding in the car.
On a bright note I went to the local grocery mart here and they agreed to donate 300 bottles of water to our Country Living Expo.
In case you hadn't heard(and i know some of my fair readers havent) I was in a car accident a week ago thursday(yesterday). I wasn't physically hurt(i'll confirm this fact tuesday hopefully if all goes well) but mentally I have become a hyperventilating ball of goo. My neck and upper back have been seriously sore since it happened, and so the Dr. at the Walk In Clinic prescribed me muscle relaxers for 4 x's a day. Uh, how'mI supposed to take care of Kenzie? So I have been trying to avoid them as A) they turn me into a ball of goo, and B) they make me a wee bit paranoid(the other night i spent 4 hours sitting by kenzies crib watching her sleep). To make everything even more wonderful the last few nights(since Tuesday) I have been having horrific panic attacks. I literally cannot close my eyes easily and fearlessly. I have taken to sleeping(laying there staring at the ceiling) with Peter, and Bob along with my sound machine set to waves after making the whole room smell like coconuts to distract me.
I tried to explain to Dad today that yesterday the reason I was so mad at him was that when I updated him on the stituation with the insurance company that at that time I just wanted to vent not have him ride in and 'save the day' for me. I probably would have gone to him for help but I wanted it to be MY choice not HIS. He apparently thinks that I am just telling him to leave me the heck alone. *sighs* why are men so annoying?
Oh and on another front I got my Pap Smear letter in the mail today(mind you I had it last month on the 13th) telling me that my results came back 'not normal' so they ran an HPV test but that came back Negative, so that I should 'just follow up in a year'. I sat there shaking my head as I DISTINCTLY remember my Dr. telling me that if anything was 'not normal' she'd give me a call and let me know. So, uh, why am I just now finding out about it? Almost a FULL MONTH later?! Tuesday I think I will be following up on that and asking about my 'normal' thyroid levels as I still am really tired(though now i can't sleep so ironic aye?) and depressed and am gaining mass weight but not really eating. *sighs*
Oh and a week from tommorow is the BIG DAY! I can't believe it is here already, it seems like just yesterday we started planning! Today my box from the USBGA arrived in the mail and it was like christmas all over again except for it was all for me I don't have to share for a whole week!
Mother's little speech book
So today I realized that I really truely am turning into a MOTHER(you notice i dont say MY mother as she and i have a rocky relationship at best).
This evening I got a call from a friend we'll call Ali. Now normally Ali doesn't call me that often but she had called me earlier today returning one of my stalkerish phone calls(mind you we've known each other for 8 years so this is just a joke). Well we had a nice long converstation about nothing really in general yet everything at the same time(again this is just how we operate). Well later this evening I was sitting feeding munch the last of her dinner when my phone started buzzing at me. I looked down to find that Ali was calling me. I answered it to her in tears. I won't go into details as to what had upset her so but I will say that by the end of our conversation she had accused me of hanging out with her mother(who lives 4 states away). Apparently I told her the EXACT same things her mom did when she spoke to her on the phone only moments before calling me.
I mean I know that I have been a mother for almost two years but it always surprises me how many motherly instincts that I have since I had to create my own 'mothers' when I was growing up.
Snow pictures
Okay so I thought I'd share some snow pics today that I snapped of my FAVORITE tree! I love it year round but when it snows it looks amazing, especially after the partial fall it took last winter(it tried to top itself). I'll post some more with tonights entry!
January 9th
One of these days I'm going to start coming up with witty titles for these things but i'm not sure when. So today was just a wierd butt day all around. I found out that OD might not be insured(which explains a heck of a lot about his behavior). I also discovered that I really need to do something about my twitchy arm that keeps volunteering me for things.
I spent an hour or so on the phone with the USBGA today getting items for my class that I am teaching on the 19th, and talking to a wonderful woman(i think her name was annette). I am constantly amazed by the wonderfulness of the boer people and am seriously considering 'converting' i've done it in small doses before but I think I might actually buy me a boer doe and breed me some boer kids. Am I nuts?!
I have spent the day popping in and reading bits and pieces of pioneer womans (http://thepioneerwoman.com) Black Heels to Tractor Wheels: A Love story. Gosh I love her writing and i think i'd marry it if that were legal and my cell phone would let me(seeing as i married it last week when i pronouced my undying love to my shiny new Krzer). So Pioneer Woman I LOVE your writing it is AWESOME!
January 8th
Okay so today I have my much promised snow pictures and a quick movie from yesterdays' snow fall. Yes that is me sounding dorky behind the camera! The pictures are out of order and were taken from bottom to top(not the way they are stacked) we went and visited her friends the goats and the little black one in front that she is touching is HER goat ms. Silver. She loves that little goat.
Today I had to deal with the insurance adjuster and got my side of the story filed sent her my estimate, and also the pictures of the accident damage. I must say that I LOVE the digital era we are living in. While I was on the phone with her I emailed her the pics(thus eliminating the need for a visual inspection), and we also pulled up a Google map of the intersection and went over where I was where the OD was, what happened etc. made for a lot clearer picture for her. She also said that YES i do have to have the car seat replaced(was pretty sure of that in the first place). There still hasn't been a liability determination but she did get the OD's statement from him, and apparently he has already had his visual inspection done by them, so now we just have to wait for everything to be in the computer. He readily admitted to her that he had NOT filed any kind of claim with his insurance, in fact hadn't even talked to them. So who knows where we will go from here?
OH! I am really jazzed Stargate Atlantis(my favorite tv show) won a PCA award tonight for the best sci fi show! A bunch of my other favorites won too but that was super duper exciting since I voted and voted on it!
So for some reason my video shows up twice *shrugs* i dont have the energy to figure out why right now sorry!
January 7th
This entry was typed yesterday but I fell asleep early so didn't get a chance to post it.
So this morning I woke up and it was grey and dreary outside and I had to get to work and got out there and was working. I happened to look out the window and saw that it was SNOWING! I continued working since 'work' is right across the parking area. Come out and its still snowing and kept snowing for about a half hour. It snowed an hour in total for about 2 inches. Kenzie and I went out and played for a while and i snapped a bunch of pic's and a couple videos so will post those tommorow(today).
other than that nothing much new. filed a claim with the OG's insurance and tried to get a hold of my adjuster but she was out of the office for the day.
January 6th
So with today being sunday it was my Weekly sojourn from the house to work at "The Clinic" down at the Local animal shelter. As many of you know I LOVE animals and someday would like to achieve my DVM doctorate(also known as animal god license). Until then I am content helping in our clinic, and working with new to the animal world owners of pets.
I LOVE Dr. N she is amazing, awesome and KICKS BUTT! I cannot get enough of her. I also love M who is our nurse and I who is our 'kennel tech' we have such fun it isnt funny. Though I must say I do miss "A & A" who have left for greener pastures but on the bright side our dynamic hasn't really changed that much we still have just as much fun. It is nice to work in a place that you can actually smile and laugh and you know EVERYONE by their first name.
Today was pretty uneventful at the clinic I got to puppysit as we had to spay 2 and neuter 1 of the already adopted puppies so they could go home. It is such a fun thing to sit and watch over them as they get ready and than afterwards.
Unfortunantly at the end of the day I had to once again wonder if I am a bad person, or abuse puppies, or smell funny and have therefore ticked off some CARma god. I mean seriously! How many things can go wrong with one lousy car? Today I went to get ready to leave and go to start my car- it won't freaking start. Well I called the house dad's already gone mom's watching kenz(they are kind enough to watch her while i am at "the clinic") so I call dad on his cell and he agrees to turn around and come pick me up from the shelter.
He happens to be near where I got in my accident, so he pops by the scene and sees where I got hit and whatnot and finally understands why I keep saying that there is NO way it was my fault and thankfully he now agrees with me. He came and picked me up and we went grocery shopping and came home and I chilled with kenzie for a while before she went to bed and than I took a nap and am now going to bed!
january 5th
well today wasn't quite as boring(okay i admit it it was!) slept in this morning(which was nice) than got up and chilled with cranky pants kenzie(she hopefully just has a new tooth i'm going to wait and see how fussy she remains before i get freaked). Than I gave C the brochures for the WSU CLE/CWS on the 19th to take to goat club.
Than I ran to the doctors office to get my neck and stuff checked as it has been very stiff and sore since thursday evening. all they could find was that it is currently spasming and so they prescribed some muscle relaxants. I think i'll only take a half a dose after my last go round with those babies made me loopy for days.
I than came home watched the game. i must say i did get rather worried in that thar 4th quarter- where the FRELL did bad matt come from? hunh? couldn't he of just stayed home? really? please? I am sooo glad though that the Steelers got their patuckuses handed to them by the Jags' it was nice to see.
Than I slipped into the hot tub for a while(which really relaxed my back and neck but its now stiff again). I have been sitting here for the last hour and a half catching up on blogs(*waves* @ mommy bloggers) and the United Hollywood page to see what the latest is with the strike.
january 4th
so today was another pretty boring day(as most of my days are lol) I stayed home this morning and we chilled and watched sesame street and the news(to catch the weather). Then miss kenz took her nap as Gma was supposed to come watch her so I could run to the body shop by myself to get the estimate. Well Gma didn't show up apparently she decided to spend extra time at the casino. SO I had to haul kenz with me to the body shop(which thankfully only took about 20 minutes on the long end) than we ran over to Cenex to see L and K from the livestock advisors.
Then Gma called and said she was at home so we ran up to her house planning on only spending about an hour before heading out to teen parents. Well we'd been there about a half hour when the phone rings and its the house calling to tell us that Park man, Cheese and Jerry were bringing back our van that we loaned them until their new car came in and the family was going out to dinner would we like to come? Since we only see Park man and family at easter, 4th of july, thanksgiving, and christmas for sure(we rarely see them in between even though its only an hours drive) I said that we'd join them for dinner. So we all went to dinner where the conversation focused on "DIC" or the Driver Information Center in both Park man and Gma's cars. Apparently DIC is a trouble maker. So Kenzie returned home with mema and pop pop and
I drove Gma home(since my car was still at her house) and than came home and discovered that mr. Evil DVR apparently decided that he didn't need to record the stargate atlantis marathon. I think I may chuck him out the window.
January 3rd
Okay I think I need to start typing these earlier in the day for publishing in the evening or else they will constantly be posted late as I stay up to watch leno's monolouge and some of his guests than check emails as I write.
Today started off uneventfully as I just had to make sure tami got off to the breeders so that she could be rebred(that is a whole post though). After she left I went out running some LA flyers out to various locales. I got into 2 feed stores and a vets office. I was supposed to visit another feed store and vets office but it didn't happen. I have a really good excuse though.
I got hit as I was crossing an intersection. I can't say much now other than that as far as I know I am okay, but just to be safe, I am going to get checked out tommorow by the doc. Hopefully I can get an appointment. My neck and head have been pounding since the shock and such wore off so I am hoping its just a stress headache and nothing more. I have to go to the body shop tommorow and get an estimate, and fax it back to my insurance company(right now it is a no fault claim).
well ta-ta for now!
January 2
Okay i know this wont hit until after midnight but its been a crazy day around here.
First off I had to once again sort(dig through and try to discern non existant tags) Kenz's clothes and pull out everything that was 18 months or smaller. When you have 4 full drawers and have just done laundry, clothes seem to abound. I got through the drawers and everything I had folded only to realize i had another whole BASKET of her clothes to sort. *sighs*
Secondly I FINALLY got my phone upgraded(i've only been bargaining for MONTHS) to an awesome Moto Krzer. Its red, and shiny, and I think I'd like to marry it- tommorow! Seriously this thing rocks! I am a total "Moto freak" meaning that every phone I have ever had has been a motorola. I love them! I ran over my last one TWICE and it didn't break(yes i ran it over with a car). This one has the music and I even splurged and got the 1 GB memory card so that I can load it up with music and pictures and movies. Kenzie was jazzed cause she recieved my old Motorola E850 that i loved.
Third today was capped off by a long, but entirely wonderful committee meeting(humans who speak ENGLISH! and SENTENCES!) for the LAF CLE/CWS on January 19th. If I haven't blogged about this before i have been much remiss in not mentioning it. What is the LAF CLE/CWS you ask? well it is quite smiply the Livestock Advisors Foundation Country Living Expo and Cattlemens' Winter School. We are having 50+ classes over an 8 hour period about everything from Cisternology and Cheesemaking, to Immunology and Vaccinations. It promises to be an eventful 8 hours. Sadly I will be missing a much desired class(immunology) because I will actually be stepping up to the plate and TEACHING! a class all about goats! I am excited and scared at the same time.
the two year plan
So today I had to haul MC into the pediatricians office for the wierd rash she's been suffering for a while. Well lately everyone has been asking me what I like to refer to as the 'million dollar question'- "So when are you having another baby?'
Hold on a sec and let me back up....
Now I KNOW I've been gaining weight recently and what not but more so in the last few months(i suspect my thyroid is out of whack again). This point was driven home today when while at the pediatrician's office and we were chatting as we always do(i LOVE her to death she is AMAZING and like part of the family) so she made some comment about how i was 'looking healthy' which at first i dismissed as no big deal, next thing i hear is the dreaded question of 'so any reason for that?'. Gee, how wonderful that makes you feel when your PEDIATRICIAN notices how much weight you've gained and assumes that your on what i like to refer to as the 'two year plan' where when your toddler hits age 2 you have a 'new' baby.
Mind you this isn't usually a big deal I can blow it off as a societal norm or expectation to 'fit in' but seriously why is it that everyone expects me as a young, mother to have another baby right now? Is it because the one I have is now somehow 'defective' or 'broken' or 'overused'? I am very happy with the single child I have at the moment and as I am not in a place to have another one I will wait until I'm in a 'better place' to 'replace' her with a new baby. oh, and it might be nice if i have a guy of some sort in my life next time around.
Show support for the WGA boycott DVD's this holiday
So in support of the WGA this season I am refusing to purchase any DVD's(for anyone) and will be waiting until the strike is over to redeem any Itune's gift cards I recieve(that I erroniously asked for months before the strike started).
This christmas my gift list includes photographs, candy, books, and a few other minor odds and ends.
All I ask of you my readers(if there are any of you ;) ) is that you support the WGA and not purchase any DVD's this holiday season and until the strike is over.
The video above can be found over at the united hollywood blog(http://unitedhollywood.blogspot.com/) or directly under this post: http://unitedhollywood.blogspot.com/2007/12/hollywood-interrupted-serious-and.html
also over at the hollywood interrupted site which can be found from the post with the video.
I strongly urge you all to go and check out the UH blog and stay up to date on what is going on down there as it affects a whole town, city, state, NATION. not just the writers are affected by this so are the DGA, the SAG, and all the other unions who work in the town.
though we too are affected i mean who is YOUR parent company?
Rodney Got Run Over By a Wraith Dart
Rodney got run over by a wraith dart
Walking home from the planet Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as wraith
but as for Weir and Sheppard they believe
he'd been drinkin' too much egg nog
and they begged him not to go,
but he'd left his tablet
so he stumbled out towards the gate
when they found him Christmas mornin'
at the scene of the aggression
there were stun marks on his forehead
and incriminatin' claw marks on his chest
Rodney got run over by a wraith dart
Walking home from the planet Christmas eve
You can say there's no such thing as wraith
but as for Weir and Sheppard they believe
Now we're all so proud of Sheppard
he's been takin' this so well
see him in there watchin' football
drinkin' beer and playin' golf with major Lorne
its just not Christmas without Rodney
all the crew's dressed in black
And we can't help but wonder:
Should we open up his gifts or send 'em back?
Now the fowl is on the tables
and the pudding made of bacot
the blue and silver candles
that would have matched the cover on his jacket
I've warned all my friends and enemies
better watch over all your consoles
they never should give license
to a beast that sucks your soul.
The Image
The Image
I sit in stony silence staring at her.
She looks so familiar yet so unknown
as if a stranger so far away.
It is as if I know her yet she isn’t a person
I know and embrace.
I wonder who is she?
What does she believe?
Who does she know of?
How much is she aware of?
I speak to her, question her, beg of her answers
Yet she sits and stares back at me
as if waiting for me to respond to myself.
I look at her she looks at me
We see each other more or less
I start to wonder why she stares
So blank and lifelessly at me
Sizing me up looking, looking
As if gazing into my soul with those glassy eyes.
I slowly realize who she is.
She is me and I am her.
We are one in the same.
Butterfly
Butterfly
I fly so free, so wild, so far.
Into the wild blue yonder beyond
If I wander I shall not lose my way
For this vast blue expanse is my home
So well I fly it for I know I shall
Return home someday.
I maybe tattered and travel worn
Having wandered far and wide
Through yonder sky
of sparkling cerulean blue
Dawning bright, falling black.
Sustaining life around the blue expanse I call home.
Name
Name
A name it echoes reverberating
with every syllable spoken.
It is a figure, a fact, a one in a million.
It is who you are but are you who it is?
It represents who you are
though do you represent who it is?
A name credited to those who nurture you
those who help you grow.
Do they echo?
They echo the name in an empty room
speaking it into the air listening,
listening to it to see if you are it?
New Beginning
New Beginning
The sun and the moon come together
stars brightening the sky.
The fog creeps along the damp soil
of the planet and life emerges.
A new life emerges
with a wiggle and a cry.
The life giving breath quickly flows into
expanded lungs with unanswered cries.
Life emerges through the mist
eyes of yellow and red.
Fire blazing within them
Somehow alive yet they seem dead.
Waves
Waves
They run up the beach at me
screaming clamoring for attention.
As they get close they quickly turn tail and run.
Run home where they came from….
The Sea
I sit and watch them frolic on the beach
wreaking havoc on unsuspecting sandcastles.
They dash children’s dreams
ruin picnics of beachgoers.
They run up the beach again and again
in an unending dance of sea and sand.
Both fighting for control.
They subside but are not as far away.
Soon all too soon they are upon me,
Yelling, yelling, yelling
They have achieved their goal
they have trapped me beneath them
Rain
Rain
Rain is falling soft and light like a baby’s blanket.
Rain can pitter and patter soft, hard or as a mist
To some it means life to others death.
The rain splashes on the sidewalks fast and hard.
Rain falls all around.
When it leaves it makes the grass glisten like
a million diamonds scattered across the ground.
Life the 9/11 version
Life 9/11
Life goes on without light.
Life is here and you are not
we have healed and
fallen back into a rut.
We say that we are patriotic
yet it is just a jumble of
words that have now lost all meaning.
Life lives and breathes then……she forgets.
Life goes back to almost the way it was.
So close we are falling back into our old strides.
A stride that hurt us all
a stride that will never
win out over all that is wrong.
Life went on yet so many will not.
Life will hurt hundreds more then
it already has yet life does not care.
Life
Life
Life goes on without light.
Life is here and you are not
we have healed and fallen back into a rut.
We say that we are fine that we do
not hurt yet it is just a jumble of
words that mean nothing for they are not the truth
Life lives and breathes then……she forgets.
Life goes back to almost the way it was.
I remember little things day by day
they bring back the memories of the past.
A past that hurt
A past that will never leave well enough alone.
It must rear its head when I need
it least to remind me of things
that have been bygone things
I desired and cannot grasp.
Things I may never be able to have
I remember the feelings so happy then
came the devastation when
I realized it would not be there
for me to dream about wide eyed with fear
I watched it disappear from my grasp
just out of reach, beyond my limits
Life went on yet I still ache for
that feeling deep inside.
Life will hurt hundreds more times then
it already has yet life does not bat an eye when
I beg and plead for the one thing I wish for to come true.
Terror
Terror
Terror took hold of
a great nation that
bright morning of September.
Forever our young nation
was changed; forever we will
remember that warm morning
turned ice cold by pictures.
Those pictures will forever haunt us.
The freedom we so proudly hailed
was beginning to fade in the aftermath.
We have become stronger
in many ways though we have
also been shaken awake by this heinous act.
It shocked a whole country into mourning
for those thousands that were lost.
That last and final morning before
our security broke wide open.
With holes the size of three beautiful buildings.
That has forever changed us and
will forever be a part of history.
Let Freedom Ring
LET FREEDOM RING
Our freedom will never be taken from us
for we are the people of these United States Of America.
This land has been our home
for over 150 years;
it will always be our home.
We will be proud to stand by her
in times of great need
and in times of great joy.
With these times of joy
we will make it through
the dark times we have faced
so often though there
are more challenges yet to come.
We have now encountered a bump
in the road we as Americans
can overcome if we remember-
Our freedom will always ring
We shall be able to get through
these rough and rocky times.
People
People
People come in many shapes and sizes.
People may look different on the outside
though we are all the same inside.
People may come
from many nations we should value them for
who they are not what they believe in.
People may have different
religions than you or I though
we all came from the same place.
People may seem mean
though it is just a front to
the big bad world in which we live.
Love
Love
Love comes in all
shapes sizes and colors.
Who are we to say who
should be loved by us
and who should be
hated by the world?
Love should rule our lives,
not a dark hatred that so many feel.
How can you hate someone
you only know through pictures?
The person might be really nice
though you have only seen
their dark side or have
never seen them at all.
Tears
TEARS
Tears were shed for
those many innocent lives lost.
Though as far as
I have seen no tears
have been shed for
the poor soul who is
accused of master
minding that terrible act.
No one stops to think
about if they might
not have been responsible
they only think about
the poor people
whose lives were lost.
While the person who
did it is being chased
by a country filled with devastation.
So much so the cannot
see the pain behind the attack.
Time
TIME
Time glides along so slowly like a
gently meandering river.
Yet, she can do so much so fast.
Aging, life, death- it all happens with time.
Time ravages some yet beautifies others.
Time runs her course fast,
yet takes as long as she wants to.
She can hurt then heal.
Time loves, hates and rejoices
when she feels right.
A Friend
A FRIEND
A friend is a person who you can trust.
A friend knows you for you.
A friend can cheer you up when you are down.
A friend cherishes your for who you are.
A friend is there for you through the good and bad.
Most of all they like
you for who you are not what you wear or
what you act like.
ALONE
ALONE
When you are alone
it’s like taking a breath
of fresh mountain air.
When you think
you are truly alone
you are usually
in a crowded room.
Cherish the times
you are alone
in the world
with your thoughts.
For hardly ever are you
alone in this world
with no one more
for company than
your thoughts.
People Are Like Flowers
PEOPLE ARE LIKE FLOWERS
People are like flowers
When they are born;
they are like a rose
opening in the spring.
When they are young
they are like a rose
in the summer.
When they are old and gray
they are like a slowly
fading rose in early fall.
When they die they
are like a rose
losing its last
petal in late fall.
People are like flowers.
Poetry
So I decided after much debate and dilly dallying that I am going to share some of my original poetic works on my blog. I will be titling each one seperately so that if you wish to comment on it you can comment on a single work instead of having to pick out the title of the work on which you are commenting.
my sick rant
I'll start this blog off with a 'get well soon' shout out to Quenderra, and Fraggle.
I will then move on to the fact that I am sick with what I am pretty sure is the most killer head cold i've had in months. My sinuses are clogged, my throat is scratchy and dry, head is pounding to the point I can't see straight, and my ears are ringing constantly.
The condition wasn't helped any when on Tuesday I was in a MINOR fender bender. I accidently backed into a person's tail light. I offered to pay restitution on the spot(as shucks was across the street) and at first the person agreed, then he went and called his boss who promptly decided that the insurance should become involved(over a tail light mind you). So now there is an investigation into fault and such since the vehicle was NOT parked in a marked spot in the tiny lot(think two cars bumper to bumper touch both sides of the parking lot). I have been very calm about all this though it will likely raise my insurance rates, which will be fun considering I am already streching pennies to get my insurance paid.
Retreat!
As some of you know I went on a retreat over the weekend and had a BLAST!
We left on Friday afternoon and headed up the freeway to Bellingham stopping at Red Robin for dinner which was amazing, I had a Bacon Cheeseburger, and a Mocha Smoothie that was just a nice way to start off the weekend. We then headed out to Cedar Springs to get settled in.
Let me just say Cedar Springs is an AMAZINGLY goregous place. We had a whole lodge to ourselves(though there were many other groups there as well), some of the ladies had arrived earlier and so we walked into the lodge to a roaring woodfire and nice comfy chairs. We had a short session Friday night a 'get to know you' and then we got to do the spa stuff(this was a 'spa retreat'). I honestly have no idea how I had never experienced the wonderfullness that is a parafin treatment before. I did the 'relaxing hands' station which was amazing because I NEVER spend anytime taking care of my hands/myself with the little one around.
Saturday I had planned on getting up and going for a walk around the ponds but that just didn't happen instead I slept in until the golorious hour of 7:45. A small group of us went for a quick walk up to the upper pond and the mill pond before breakfast stopping to take a bunch of pics at the mill pond. We had a nice quiet breakfast and went up to worship before another spa session. Saturday morning I was treated to a pedicure that was just amazing my feet have never been so soft. We had taco salad's for lunch, then I went out on the pond canoeing which was fun until the gardeners showed up on the far end ruining the 'peaceful' atmosphere. I opted to join a couple of the other women on a hike up haystack hill. WOW! that was a workout it was a 750 ft hill that was almost straight up. We reached the top and the view was just amazing, we could see all the way to Canada. We headed down the hill and on the way down I sadly slipped and slid and ended up twisting my ankle. We had a WONDERFUL dinner of salmon that was so good it melted in your mouth and didn't even taste like 'fish' that a lot of people complain about when eating salmon. That night I got to have a wonderful facial that really made my face feel brand new and so soft. A small group of us stayed up for some of the night just chatting which was wonderful.
Sunday I had again planned on getting up early but it jus didn't happen as I didn't sleep well due to the big scary bug in my bathroom. I debated sleeping through breakfast but alas that didn't happen either as a couple of the wonderful ladies woke me up but boy was I glad that they had we had a wonderful blueberry crumb cake and wonderful scrambled eggs for breakfast. The wonderful caretaker went while I was eating breakfast and took care of my 'little' bug problem, apparently it was a caterpillar moth that had partially transformed into a moth. After breakfast I packed up and grabbed a nice shower then went and participated in our final session before heading home.
On a side note I was sad, because on our hike I had taken my camera with to snap pics and we got about halfway up and pulled my camera out and went to push down the button and it just didn't happen. So I glanced down and the shutter button was missing! So I get to deal with having my camera repaired now.
RIP Rodney McKay and Jesse's Abigaile
For those of you who haven't heard the little goat mentioned in the last blog entry(yes I know its been a while), Rodney Mckay, had to be put to sleep later that same week on the 22nd of August due to complications that made him cross the line from 'sick' to the 'pain and suffering' side of life which I feel is just an unacceptable thing to make an animal any animal suffer. He fought a valiant fight while he was sick going through four days of intense treatment and rallying a little each day but in the end sadly his fighting spirit just wasn't enough to overcome whatever it was that took him out. We preformed a necropsy(the vet let me attend), and while we were both stumped by the findings(everything appeared healthy for the most part) and the results came back clean from WADDL(Washington Animal Disease and Diagnostics Laboratory), we have therefore been unable to determine what might have been a COD(cause of Death).
He was only on earth for a short 4 months but Rodney deeply touched my heart and my soul leaving his little hoofprints in my heart forever he will be deeply missed and forever I will be in his debt for teaching me so much in such a short time I'll miss you baby! (4/21/2007 to 8/22/2007)
RIP TTLF Jesse's Abigaile
About a week after Rodney passed away his dear darling little sister Abigaile became very ill and sadly passed away. Luckily we know what was the COD on her I feel very bereft that I hadn't suspected the Coccidia and Strongyles sooner or I may have been able to save her. To my benefit though the vet did comment that she was a 'perfect' case of managment as she didn't show any signs of illness until the day before she passed away.
This little girl had a fighters spirit right from the start having almost died in kidding as she was a true buttling breech(where the animals butt is presenting to the birth canal), and was born with two sets of contracted tendons in her front legs that required her to have her front legs splinted for 10 days and stay in the house about 3 weeks when a 'normal' kid only gets at most 7 to 10 days depending on how fast they catch onto the bottle feeding process. Our "IC" kids get 10 days and around the clock(24/7) feedings and our 'NC' kids get 8am to 10pm feedings and time outside everyday. Abigaile was a very special "IC" kid getting to be carried around with me as her brother was an exceptional "NC" kid who was a quick study on the practice of life.
Abi experienced a very wonderful life and I was looking forward to watching her grow into a beautiful young doe and later maturing into a daughter that would make her mother proud as she was the last doe kid out of my beloved Jesse whom is now retired. I will miss you Abigaile but I know that you are at the Rainbow bridge waiting for me. (4/21/2007 to 9/2/2007)
Don't be sad I know that you aren't in pain, don't cry for me I remember you fondly, just play and run be happy and frolick gleefully in the pasture. ~mumm
let me tell you a little story......
Once upon a time in a land not so far away there was a goat herd who was supposed to be going on vacation. She was all packed and ready to leave for the island where she was to spend the night. She went to do one last herd check and found that her prize winning buck was laying out on the ground as flat as a board and looked like he'd been run over by some large vehicle.
She picked him up and stood him on shaky legs and tried to feed him some hay whilst she phoned the veterinarian thankful that it was 'extended office hours' only to realize that it was sunday and therefore an emergency call. She left a frantic message for the vet who promptly returned the call and informed the goat herd that she needed to bring the little goat into the office.
The goat herd jumped up carrying the goat in one arm and scurried around gathering a carrier and towels and dashed off to the vets office arriving minutes before the vet. She stood there pacing while she waited checking on him and finding him flat in the carrier once again. The vet arrived in a flurry of activity and promptly took his temperature and checked his vitals to confirm the fact that his heart was racing and his breathing was shallow, whilst his ears were warm but his mouth was cold, his tongue pink but his gums a sickly white.
His temperature registed at a horribly shocking 91.7 degrees on the thermometer(normal is 101.5 for a goat) and quickly diagnoses the fact that he has gone into shock and is wanting to die. The vet quickly races inside to set up a heating pad and get warmers set up to raise his body temperature and they place the goat into the heater. She tells the goat herd that if it is going to work it will do so in the next few hours and that she will call in about an hour to let the goat herd know how he is doing.
Two and a half hours go by and the goat herd hasn't yet received a phone call from the vet updating her on the prognosis of her goat. She decided to call the vet and get an update only to find out that the goats body temperature had climbed up to 98 degrees and was holding steady at that point, and that he had been placed on sternal recumbency(sitting on his chest), a IV drip of fluids w/ glucose and cephlexin and albon(worm drugs). She was also told that the vet would call her back around 6:30 to 7 pm with another update but that it was looking good. She went and tried to relax the best she could and sat to eat dinner(a delectable pork chop and farm fresh corn on the cob) while she waited.
Just after 7 pm the phone rang and she answered it thankful that it was the vet. The vet informed the goat herd that the buck would be perfectly fine and his body temperature was normal he was eating, drinking, chewing a cud, and having all normal body functions. She also informed the goat herd that the buck could come home the following morning with some extra antibiotics but that he should pull through fine. The goat herd was so excited that she burst into tears as it had already cost over $500 for the rest of the buck's family medical bills this year alone.
