Squirrel Fiction is now live

Just wanted to say that if you want to check out what I've been doing lately this is probably the place to go.

See a number of months ago I got involved in writing for a group of my friends the "Squirrels" over on the Dgeek forum.

Originally I was planning on just writing one story and calling it quits. Then I discovered how much fun it was to write the stuff(as you get to intermix real people into fictional situations). So I kept writing it.

The I discovered Photoshop and started making banners and art for fun.

Nikki and I were creating so much content that it started to overwhelm her personal blog where we had been publishing so she set up the New home of Squirrel Fiction.

Squirrel Fiction Network is a fun place to drop by have a good laugh and kick your feet up. So if you feel so inclined to- drop by say hi! But be warned our inner geeks are out in full over there :D

Okay now normally I wouldn't be so low to stoop and enter into a contest in such a fun and exciting way(because really how much free time do I have left? Nada).

I know I've been enjoying it for a good cause. Okay must now turn my attention back to the never ending pile of doom.

100 Things- The Final Edition

So today my 100 things comes to an end(stop applauding, you know you liked it!). In the past 9 editions I have covered many many topics: Entertainment, Parties, Travel, Countries *waves* Hi Europe!, Food, Random stuff, Crushes, Jobs, and ME!

So since I am at a loss for a topic I can do 10 things over its going to be again Random day!

10 Random Things:

1) I have recently discovered a few different kinds of Jell-O shots. My favorite recipe is for the Caffeinated Jell-O shots. Please share your favorite Jell-O shot recipe!

2) Apparently my muse works really hard when it wants to. Not always on the 'correct' project. For instance I am supposed to be writing a Squirrel Fic. My muse would much rather play with Photoshop, and make Profiles, and wall papers.

3) My sciatic nerve has been acting up again. It has been almost 3 years since my last attack of sciatic. I have no idea why this is happening NOW or what caused this bout. I know what started it though.

4) In a search through my boxes of crap stuff, I recently found my high school diploma.

5) I am a pack rat. I have stuff that I don't remember acquiring. Anyone need some Beta Gravel?

6) The only kind of ice cream I will ever eat again is Tillamook Ice Cream. It is like heaven in a quart.

7) I have a 4 inch scar on my upper right arm. It is NOT from some horrid accident, so stop saying that! It is from a cat, shut up, I know that is a crappy story but its the truth.

8) When writing stories, and especially poetry, I MUST write them on paper before I put them on the laptop. I will edit the crap out of them on the laptop, then they get filed away into 'the book' where I keep all my poetry.

9) I have 3 "Rodeo style" belt buckles. I only know where 1 of them currently is. I worked my butt off for those things.

10) There is no way that my sister and I shared the same uterus, even if we were born 7 years apart. I am too much a geeky-tomboy, and she too much a preppy-athletic-popular-girly girl to have shared the same growing environment.

So I arrived home to find that Kenzie was upstairs playing in her room. Quietly. Now as all moms know quiet equals Trouble.

This time was no different.

I went upstairs to find this:

That's right, the toddler pulled off all FIFTEEN FEET of the wall border.

Now then onto a very very important topic. I was given a very special award by one of my favorite bloggers (thanks, LSHM). Now I have the distinction of passing on this goregous award to a very favorite blogger of mine.

Now on to the other news of the day. Star, our singular alpine doe kidded this afternoon with 2 kids. Unfortunately we had to have the doeling put to sleep almost immediately, as she was born with little/no eyes. She had sockets, but nothing in them. I am a firm believer in kindness to animals but there would have been no way that in nature this kid would survive on her own and I don't have that much extra time to put into a 'special needs' kid. Thankfully from the research that the vet and I did, it looks like this may have been one of those '1 in a million' things that just happen. He's going to talk to his colleagues tomorrow and get back to me with more. I promise I will have pictures later of the little black buckling later.

Oh and tonight I'm going out to a friends house to see a movie(a REAL movie that was released recently) I am SO excited. The last movie I saw in theaters was Enchanted, and before that I think it was The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. We're going to watch JUNO, which I have been dying to see as it hits kind of close to home for me.

I am the kind of person who if everyone else(or somebody really awesome like Mrs. Flinger) is doing something I feel compelled to do so. So therefore when the aforementioned Awesome Mrs. Flinger posted a picture of herself first thing in the morning I decided I too must jump on the band wagon.

Fight the Frump- Getting to the Sole of The Issue

Today is Fight the Frump with Fussy! Check out all the other participants over at Fussy's WONDERFUL blog.

In today's issue of FtF, I will be dealing with a particular subject that can be touchy. Feet!

Now, I live in the Northwest, so I don't have a very long 'sandal season' in which to show off my feet in cute little sandals. *sighs wistfully* Plus I live on a farm, and don't wear sandals anyways(except on the way to our hot tub).

I hide my feet 90% of the year in horrid looking farm shoes, or rubber boots. I have an occasion coming up in a few weeks that will require me to dress up and wear HEELS *gasps*. I happened to sit down and pull off my socks the other day and realized there was no way they would let me in if my feet looked the way they did. I had a common condition known as WINTER FOOT. You know, when you're feet become dry, and cracked and look like the Gobi Desert? Yeah, my feet didn't even look that good. I have some 'before' pic's I'll dig out later and post if you want(i wouldn't want to scar you).

So I resolved to spend a week pampering my feet every night before bed. So from last Friday, to today I have spent approximately 30 minutes each night pampering my feet!

I soaked them in Epsom salt water, than I used the Olay warming foot scrub(seriously I LOVE that stuff), which was followed by a wrap in the booties(i'll grab a pic later i can't find one right now) for 10-15 minutes. After the booties came off, I would use some Burt's Bee's Shea butter lotion and my trusty foot scrubber to buff the caslouses away. When I was done with that I'd slip my tootsies into a clean pair of socks and slip off to bed.

I am really amazed how much more presentable my feet look now compared to last week. There are some things that will have to be dealt with 'professionally' but I haven't had time to use my spa gift certificate for my mani and pedi.

Fight The Frump while feeling like you're dying

Since it is Friday it is time to FIGHT THE FRUMP! with Mrs. Fussypants! Hopefully Mrs. Fussypants is feeling better. I feel for you girl Mr. Flu Enza SUCKS!

So as I am sure you know by now, I have basically felt like dying all week. You can read about it here, here, here, and here. So today when I had to go out in public about the only thing I had the energy for was leaving. I had been working outside some until my prednisone, which supposedly makes people 'hyper', made me pass out on the couch in the living room. Since I was just running to the feed store I went ahead and made myself look semi-nice.

Before I got 'De-frumped' I looked like this:

and the grumpy 'just kill me now' look?

With just a few quick quirks I looked like this:

and look! there's color to my boring dull lips!

See? doesn't look to bad considering this is 5 minutes
AND just for the feed store(seriously I normally go in barn clothes)

The No-Ponytail Challenge day 1

Today in Fussy's Fight the Frump, SAHMmy challenged us to give up ponytails for a WHOLE WEEK! Thats right 7 days of no pony tails, buns, scrunchies, jaw clips, or banna clips(ha!). Since for the last approximately 6.5 years I have sported nothing other than a ponytail, I willingly agreed, decided to take her up on the challenge.

So I took the hair down(see below pictures for proof), now I just have to figure out what to do with my unruly, just below shoulder length hair for 7 days. Any suggestions would be much appreciated especially for wednesday, and thursday as I have to drive down to seattle both days for various doctor's appointments(wednesday at children's and thursday @ the university).
